Turkey began his own operation after working with potter Wayne Hewell. He resides in Georgia and when he's not turning pots, is a full-time school teacher. He is particularly known for his creativity in presentation and sculpting deep furrowed faces. His recent roosters are particularly monumental. This pot was part of a beginning of change in his glaze style as he preserved the underlying face features, but then added glaze to decorate. The blue drips give a very modern folksy look, maybe one would argue something in the outsider artist nature. This guy is particularly focused in any case and the facial features are so intricately incised. I also like how Kevin took the traditional face jug form and extended it into a vase style. Stands 10 inches tall. Signed July 2009 on the base. Mint condition.
