Daniel Johnston, considered by many the most famous apprentice of North Carolina potter Mark Hewitt, began working a decade ago for Mark, humbly working the clay for the master. From 1998-2000 Daniel learned the important secrets of the trade from Mark, before being unleashed on the Seagrove pottery scene. Daniel's creations over the past several years have rivaled the size of Mark's. One recent lidded pot was featured on the cover of Ceramic's Monthly. The pot offered here is a great salt glaze teapot, decocareted expertly with the melted glass runs, and marked with WMH and D (signifying Daniel). It was made during that critical early period. The condition is excellent.
