This classic Billy form of his version of the famous mid-19th century Shenandoah Valley Lions is one of the most highly sought by Billy's collecting community. Created by Billy while he worked at ML Owen's shop in Seagrove in the late 1970's. The intricate detail of the darker swirled curly mane and tale contrasts with a buttery yellow glazed body. The lion stands 5.5 inches by 6 inches in length. The condition is overall excellent-one rear leg apparently had been knocked off and reglued during production was sold to the buyer at the Owens shop (per the original seller). When this lion was shown to Billy he corroborated this story.
