Billy Henson Pottery Face Jug

Billy Henson, descendant of the famous Henson family of upstate SC potters, really took the upstate SC pottery collecting community by storm when he returned to his familial roots in the small town of Lyman in 1989 to produce some great quality pots.  His roosters and painted jugs and jars are his most famous forms, along with a series of glass-run covered face jugs.  Billy's career was snuffed out about as quickly as it got started when he passed away in 2001.  This face jug has some great detail and the standard beautiful glass over alkaline wood-fired finish.  To boot the face is smoking a cigar, a funny take on the face jug form.  The jug stands 5.5 inches tall and is in mint condition.
