A.V. Smith of Sanford, NC, first met Charlie Lisk when they worked together Pinehurst Pottery in 1978. Soon thereafter Charlie and he founded a joint pottery operation known as Clenny Creek Pottery which closed in 1982. Charlie moved up to the Catawba Valley and A. V. stayed on in Sanford and has remained an independent potter ever since. This striking red double-headed rooster vase is a rare piece, numbered #6 and dates to the late 1990's. Definitely an older style of rooster for A.V and glazed in the red glaze that since become unavailable for potters (A.V. later began using a different red glaze). The bright orange drips particularly enhance the piece. The height is 10.5 inches. Excellent condition (there does appear to be a glaze skip at the very tip of one of the roosters' beak).
