About Us
|
This site grew out of the desire to get Chad Smith’s name out there, coinciding with the 2009 Hickory (Catawba Valley Pottery) Festival. Chad was proudly accepted into the ranks of the Hickory festival potters and pretty much sold everything that weekend. In 2010 he once again sold all his pottery the weekend of Hickory. Chad is but one potter that shares in the passion for turning. Other potters that are friends include folks like Matt Hallyburton of Durham, Stacy Lambert of Asheboro, NC, and Clint Alderman of Georgia. We trade pottery, and buy a bit from each other. Each of these potters have pots featured for sale in that section of the southernpots website.

The updated format of the site is to make a better connection with the collecting public. There is much more ease in the ability to view and search through pots that one might want to purchase for their collection or as a gift for a loved one. In addition as people visit the site we will develop a cadre of collectors to whom we will update periodically about happenings in the southern pottery world as we know and love it. There are hundreds of potters across the South we are but an introduction to the great diversity and wealth of knowledge that exists. Southernpots strives to be a conduit for Southern pottery. Surrounding this blurb are pictures documenting some of the pottery adventures, from firing, to turning, and attending/setting up at festivals.
